Our Story

Amrita Technologies introduced its Hospital Information System (HIS) to the market in 2002 with a clear mission: to create a secure, scalable, and cost-effective solution using open-source technology. The system was first implemented at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), a 1,300-bed charitable hospital in Cochin, India. Under the guidance of Ron Gottsegen (1936-2022), the hospital’s former Executive Director and former Chairman of Amrita Medical, the HIS solution was designed to make technology affordable for healthcare providers without sacrificing quality. As interest grew, Amrita HIS became a leader in the Indian EHR market, expanding its footprint across India, the Middle East, and Africa. In 2022, a significant milestone was achieved with the inauguration of a 2600-bed super specialty Amrita hospital in Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Recognizing the needs of rural healthcare providers, Amrita HIS entered the U.S. market in 2010 through the newly formed Amrita Medical Solutions. Collaborating with the Colorado Rural Health Association and Rio Grande Hospital, the system was tailored to address the specific challenges of rural and Critical Access Hospitals, offering an affordable, efficient, and comprehensive solution for smaller healthcare facilities.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide healthcare providers with a secure, scalable, and cost-effective Hospital Information System built on open-source technology. We strive to ensure that healthcare institutions, regardless of their size or financial constraints, have access to high-quality technological solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
